[00:00:05.04] - Dr. Fadi Hasan Osseous surgery, or what we call the pocket reduction procedure, it's meant for patients who have existing periodontal disease, and our goal is to eliminate those pockets. Instead of having 6-7 millimeter pockets, the goal for us is to reduce it to down to what a normal healthy probing should be, which is about anywhere of 3-4. We are removing all the bacterial components from the gum and the bone that supports the surrounds, the tooth, at that point in time. [00:00:32.06] - Dr. Fadi Hasan Our goal is also to create a positive, healthy architecture for the bone and the gum that helps support the tooth. In some cases, we actually can add additional bone to some of those, we call them, osseous defects, which are defects that are created from the periodontal disease, where we can actually fill that bone back up again, refill it, and then we're able to close it up to help regenerate the bone again one more time around those teeth. The goal is to stabilize the dentition and the periodontium, in other words, the foundation that supports the teeth in place.
